Choosing Limitation
I love to take something old, something ready for reinvention, and find its new life.
One
of the particular joys I find in taking old clothes to create new is
working within limitations; I relish the requirement of using only what
I find.
The tyranny of unlimited options makes my
decision to simply move to the next step much more difficult. If I can
reach into a virtual toolbox for any imaginable material, I would dwell
in the realm of possibilities and ideals until nothing was done.
'Ooo, this should be satin...NO! Silk! I am going to find the PERFECT silk.'
The
simple act putting one foot in front of the other, after accepting the
path I've chosen, allows me to expand fully into the possibilities
provided by said path. Thus, I find an organic process that births a
creation that can never be duplicated exactly; a creation born from
fully expanding into the possibilities inherent within a certain set of
limitations.
